T.J. Casey, winner of the 2009 RRMC Country-Western CD of the Year Award for “Pure D Cowboy” who lives in Billings, Montana, kindly spent some time on the phone with me the other night. I hung up in a state of amazement and admiration. This T.J. Casey is what ‘Cowboy Up’ means!

Here’s a video about his path to the 2009 Country-Western CD of the Year Award.

T.J. is a “Pure D Cowboy,” Cowboy singer, performer, songwriter, composer, storyteller, recording artist, entertainer (“Montana’s Singing Cowboy”), Cowboy poet, troubadour, yodeler, Western Swing artist, and President of the Giving Back Foundation, among many other things.

  • T.J. can ride a bronc, rope a calf, break a horse “from the ground up,” shoe a horse, deliver a calf, use a macate, etc. He has ‘cowboyed’ all of his life, and is a certified Veterinary Technician.
  • T.J. teaches poetry, Western heritage, Cowboy Culture, and the Code of the West, and lives it. Here’s a story about his classes:

  • T.J. holds clinics for first time horse owners and children to teach them to work with their horses “from the ground up.”
  • T.J. Casey is the featured Cowboy Poet and Music Artist in the December 2009 edition of The Open Range Magazine.
  • T.J. Casey’s poetry is published in The Big Roundup, an anthology of the best classic contemporary cowboy poetry in America. TJ wrote his first poem when he was 14.
  • T.J. Casey has won many national awards for his singing, songwriting and poetry.

There’s so much more…. but for now, I’ll leave you with links to listen to T.J.’s music and to connect with him.

P.S. He loves performing at Festivals so contact him for your next Festival or event!
