Ocala Breeders’ Sales Fall 2010 Mixed Sale, Day 2.

Results of Day 2 of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Fall Mixed Sale (below) were not as good as Day 1. According to Ocala Breeders Sales:

“For the final session, 180 horses sold for a total of $863,700, compared with 168 horses bringing $877,800 last year. The average was $4,798 compared to $5,225 in 2009, while the median price was $2,700 compared with $3,000 a year ago. The buyback rate was 35%; it was 41.4% last year.”

Which horse was top seller, Day 1, at Ocala Breeders’ Sales 2010 Fall Mixed Sale? The top seller in the Consignor Preferred session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2010 Fall Mixed Sale was a 5-year-old Storm Cat mare (Hip No. 147, Zehoorr, in foal to Tiznow, purchased by Rustlewood Farm, Inc. (Reddick, FL) for $250,000 from the Reddick-based Westbury Stables. Average sale numbers were up 42% compared with 2009, in part due to the dispersal of the entire stock of Westbury Stables. According to the OBS website: “For the session, 163 horses sold for a total of $2,572,600 compared with 132 horses grossing $1,467,900 at last year’s consignor preferred session. The average was $15,783, up 42% compared with $11,120 in 2009, while the median price rose 25% to $7,500 from $6,000 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 36.3%; it was 40.3% a year ago.”
