Sally Kresser Gummoe is a life-long cowgirl and the author of “Spirit of the Happy Trails of My Life,” an autobiography. The book is not on line [yet]. Sally’s heroes have always been Roy Rogers and John Wayne, she has always had a passion for horses, and her fascination with the West and Western culture is insatiable.

It was my pleasure and extra good fortune to meet Ms. Sally, who lives close to me, several weeks ago at an Indian Pow Wow in Fort McCoy, FL. She travels to a few Pow Wows and horse shows each year, setting up her ‘Trading Post’ and filling her booth and tables with wonderful treasures she has either created or collected during her most appealing life.

The slideshow will give you a peek at a very small portion of cowgirl memorabilia that surrounds Ms. Sally, including an amazing horsehair bridle, and part of her Trading Post. I could spend all day, every day, right there! Read more about Sally Gummoe and her visit to the Florida Carriage Museum.

The Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Museum Collection. Going, going…..

Breaks my heart that the Roy Rogers & Dale Evans Museum is dispersing (and I can’t have one of Dale or Roy’s rhinestone and fringe Western shirts). Read the New York Times article about the auction and today’s preview at Christie’s at Rockefeller Center, Meeting Again at the Auction House. You may view the Christie’s eCatalog here.

“Wild West kitsch will take over Christie’s plush quarters at Rockefeller Center at noon on Friday. A preview opens for the last of this year’s five major auctions dispersing the contents of the Roy Rogers-Dale Evans Museum in Branson, Mo.”
