“Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. is trying a new tack to improve the way it showcases horses during the January auction.
The company’s mixed winter sale, which includes horses of varying ages, will allow horses that are 3 years old and older to either gallop or breeze under a time clock for prospective buyers. Young 2-year-old horses will only be allowed to gallop. No running was featured during previous mixed winter sales.”
Ocala’s Double Diamond Farm, owned by Donald R. Dizney, held a Stallion Show January 7, 2012, featuring the magnificent First Dude. What a gorgeous specimen he is!
Nice article in today’s Ocala newspaper about a few of the amazing and winning Thoroughbreds on the beautiful horse farms in and around Ocala and Marion County…. even though the photo is from 2007.
Here are recent photos and videos of a few of the beautiful Thoroughbreds and horse farms in and around Ocala:
Driving out in the York area of Ocala/Marion County at dusk yesterday to enjoy Christmas lights on and around the beautiful horse farms, I stopped at a pasture full of Thoroughbred mares quite obviously in foal. There are some winners growing in that pasture, I feel sure!
Have you ever seen a moss munching colt? If you live in Ocala, or Florida, you probably have. While waiting for the turkey to finish cooking yesterday, I went outside to take a few photos. See more Ocala horse photos here.
Picturing horses of the Wild West here in Ocala is easy for me with a mere click of a photo setting. My friendly subjects kindly came to greet me as I pulled along their fenced pastures in West Ocala horse country Wednesday. There are more Ocala horse photos here.
