The rolling pastures full of Thoroughbreds in and around Ocala (Marion County) not only beautify the horse farm properties, they make it hard for me to get anywhere on time. During the summer months, there are new foals by their mothers’ sides, weanlings, and yearlings almost anywhere you go in Ocala. LIKE!
Florida is home to approximately 600 Thoroughbred farms and training centers, with over 75% of these farms and training centers being located in the Ocala, Marion County area ~ providing a major economic impact.
The horse farms and pastures full of Thoroughbreds in Ocala provide a major visual impact as well.

Horses and horse farms aren’t all you will see in Ocala. Historic Downtown Ocala is home to charming stores like Hannah’s and Jezebels, coffee shops like Starbucks, and restaurants. The Marion County Library is a sight to see, convenient to the downtown area, and not without horses as adornments. I love that Ocala is still ‘Old Florida’ … thank goodness!
Speaking of horse farms, 560 acres were just purchased in Marion County by Jedi A Polo and Jedi B Polo owner Erich Koch, of Wellington.
Florida Trend published a great Community Portrait of Ocala and Marion County here.

Finding Ocala’s ‘Horse Fever‘ horses in the Historic Downtown area (“Brick City”) leads one to searches across the streets, highways and Ocala horse farms for the opportunity to find more of them for more photographs. Ocala, in Marion County, is considered the ‘Horse Capital of the World.’ Horse Fever thrives in Ocala!
Ocala is also home to the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association on Airport Road, very close to Ocala Breeders Sales grounds. What more could a horse lover ask?
Consider me on the hunt, whether downtown or on an Ocala horse farm, for more Horse Fever horses to be added to this collection. Here are links to more information about the Horse Fever project:
