It was a sultry Saturday on Ocala horse farms today as I headed home from the Flea Market, delicious, fresh peaches in hand.
It is hard to dwell on the [sluggish] economy, [difficult] real estate market, and [rampant] lack of jobs in our nation when you spend a little time with some Florida-bred Thoroughbreds, up close and personal, on horse farms in Ocala, Morriston, and also Williston.

Now this is horse country! Another day in Ocala, another beautiful drive, surrounding by beautiful horse farms in the “Horse Capital of the World.”
Driving around the Ocala and Marion County horse farms makes it very easy to see why almost every breed of horse, and type of discipline, is represented here … Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods, Arabians, Quarter Horses, Gypsy Vanners, etc., etc.
Love starting my day with a ride around the horse farms all over Ocala and Marion County. Cowboys always welcome!
Riding around with a cup of coffee, and enjoying views of Ocala’s beautiful horse farms …. what a great start to a sunny Sunday. Training tracks, training facilities, pastures, beautiful horse barns, mares and foals, large round hay bales, horses grazing. LIKE!
If you love horses, the country, warm weather, jockeys, horse farms, barns full of horses, straws of semen, and an equestrian’s mecca of stores, artisans, veterinarians, trainers (like McDuffee Quarter Horses), and restaurants, Ocala (Marion County) is the place for you. Ocala, and Marion County, are the heart of Florida’s horse industry, and home to the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.
Yesterday I filmed part of a visit to an Ocala horse farm full of potential Kentucky Derby winners. Ocala, and the surrounding Marion County area, is home to approximately 75% (450 +/-) of the Thoroughbred farms and training facilities in Florida. I’m seeing many photo and video opportunities. 
Ocala is also a ‘breeding ground’ for equine services and vendors, such as veterinarians, horse transportation companies, feed and tack stores, horse trailer sales, farriers, etc., and is the home of the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.

Last week I had the good fortune to speak with Geoff Tucker, DVM, about his passion and practice for Equine Dentistry Without Drama™. He was on the road, heading North from Florida to tend to clients all along and around the East coast. It was my intention to write a little bit about him myself, from our phone conversation. However, I’ve decided this would be the best way to spread the word about Dr. Tucker …. let him speak for himself!
As you will see, not only is he passionate about horses and his practice, he is also very Social Media Tech Savvy! I hope to take my own pictures of Dr. Tucker at work somewhere down the road!
